Wellington, NZ — Local man David Breen Seymour, 41, is reportedly devastated after falling victim to a sophisticated ticketing scam promising exclusive access to Michael Jackson on his ‘forthcoming’ NZ concert tour. The event, advertised as “the ultimate moonwalk experience,” turned out to be nothing more than a thinly disguised scam.

“I thought I was getting front-row seats to something historic,” said Seymour, clutching a crumpled receipt for five tickets he purchased for $1,000 each. “I mean, who doesn’t want to see the lead singer of the Jackson Five live?”
The scam, which has left perhaps some fans reeling, involved a GeoCities styled website featuring testimonials from “satisfied customers” and a countdown timer that promised tickets would sell out in minutes. “It was all very convincing,” Seymour lamented.
The scam website has since been taken down and replaced by a new site selling Michael Jackson meet and greets opportunities for $500 a pop. Seymour has reportedly signed up, hoping to recoup some of his losses by on-selling the once in a lifetime opportunities on TradeMe.
At publication time, NZSIS agents have reportedly replaced Seymour’s computer with an Etch A Sketch.
